Integrity of the Pose

Integrity Today while teaching Yoga, I really focused on the integrity of poses because I am in an Integrity seminar with Landmark!  I've learned about how when something is broken, it has lost integrity and all you have to do is restore the integrity to make it work. Restoring integrity into the pose helps you get into a powerful place that is workable, no matter where you are in your practice. I have experienced Syl do this in our Yoga Teacher Training where we broke down a pose for 10-20 minutes and now every time I get into that pose it has more integrity. It was fun to work that into my class today.

Tips for better teaching

Learning I went to Ohio to visit my closest friend Leah.  Most people in my life are amazed that she is my best friend because we are probably the 2 most different people on the planet.  She is type A, perfectionist,  and amazing amazing amazing.  Her home looks like it came out of pinterest, and her home and life runs like a well oiled machine. But we are both Yogi, holistic living/eating/healing students, we are both Dulas and both have eccentric mothers (: In any case, while I was there, I went to her incredible Bar class. I've been to several of her classes and she is so so good at teaching!  I was intimidated, but asked her if I could teach her some Yoga and get some feedback.  Other than my sisters and kids at church, I haven't really taught anyone so I was nervous and I definitely didn't feel the flow.  Her feedback was awesome though!  I will share it here: Lead with what they need to do next about 4 seconds before they get there Sp...

Yoga and Love and Acceptance

This is what I do when I do Yoga When I started Yoga, I was still into pounding my body to change.  I wanted a "Hard" workout where I would feel exhausted and like a did something worthwhile.  I liked those classes where I was sore all over after.  I had come from doing a year of cross fit - but I had knots in my back and stress in my body and I knew from the few time's I'd done Yoga that it would help. I eased into it by getting into a third Chakra (Ego) based practice where we got into all sorts of crazy poses and I walked out drenched, but blissful.  It was the perfect tradition for me as the slow, peaceful, stretchy Yoga I do now probably would have driven me crazy back then and I wouldn't' have gone back. But as I was going through the most tumultuous time of my life, I was blessed to be able to find Bodhi Yoga and Syl Carson.  She is now my guru and friend.  She is amazing and created a Yoga Teacher training that is un paralelled!  I am ab...

Healing aspects of Yoga and Gem Healing

I went to Yoga Teacher Training at Bodhi Yoga in Provo this weekend and it was incredible!  for the past few weeks I was sure I wouldn't be able to go.  There were a ton of personal things and Trey was going to be out of town and our usual babysitters couldn't come.   Miraculously, my Dad pulled through for me yet again and was coming through town and watch the kids all day Saturday (Feeding them Ice cream for lunch).  They were alive when I got home and I was feeling so good.  The focus was on the healing aspects of Yoga and specialized classes.  I was in need of a lot of healing and Saturday morning, we went to Syl's home and she showed us her  Gemisphere  collection of healing gems.  It was so amazing to feel how the different gems had different energy.   Here is an example of one of the necklaces she uses:  The Bloodstone  Bloodstone strengthens your immune system and keeps it alert and responsive to your body’...

Learning to Teach Prenatal Yoga

I'm so excited!  My sister Brianna has been my primary subject while learning how to teach and I'm so excited to know how to teach her pregnancy body and soul better through the prenatal workshop at Bohdi Yoga on Saturday from 1-3!  Brianna is so strong and healthy, I have basically been teaching the normal Yoga training, but I know there is so much amazing stuff for pregnant bodies in particular with Yoga, so this is going to be awesome!

Bohdi Yoga, First Class

I am super pumped!  - In a zen kind of way (:  In fact, after my first weekend of Yoga Teacher training with Syl at Bohdi Yoga, I felt so centered - enlightened even...until I came home and dropped something and swore, then yelled at my kids because they had been in the house all day and were stir crazy and hungry and I realized I was absolutely exhausted from 2 days of yoga and cramming my brain with words like "Utkatasana and Udiandabanda".  I learned about so many amazing ways to teach, support, adjust and teach with "upeka", I'm just so excited!  I also learned that Buhdi Yoga is one of the only studios in Utah Valley that teaches prenatal Yoga and they are designing a premier program right now that I can be a part of!   Now I can specialize my Yoga Training in Prenatal Yoga!  I felt lead to join Bohdi and didn't have any idea why until this weekend. Now I just have to go out and start practice teaching and get going on my personal practice...

Fall Festivities and Halloween!

Halloween is a fantastic Holiday for Creativity.  The costumes, decorations and games are all just so fun!   Its also probably my favorite time of year.  The temperature is perfect, the colors, amazing and CANDY is everywhere (:    I met up with my friend from Chicago at the local (1 hour away) Pumpkin Patch.  Basically a Photo Opp.  The Brothers!   Its still weird for me not to have Brooklyn posing for these photos!  But here she is in all her glory for Fall Festival for her school where they dressed up as Scarecrows.   On Friday, I decided that there weren't any Halloween parties on Saturday, so I was going to throw one!   I tried to keep things healthy - at least for the beginning of the party.     We did Pumpkin Bowling  with TP Ghosts  Played Pin the Spider on the Cobweb Decorated Caramel Apples At the end, we had a Pinata of course because what would...
